CHARACTER: Senator Emilia Gold
Senator Emilia Gold was born in Vancouver, BC to a diplomat Mother and Father. After her mother’s death at the age of 10, Gold’s father moved her to Portland Oregon, where she completed secondary school before winning a full-ride scholarship to Stanford University, where she double-majored in Psychology and Political Science. She has spent the whole of her career in Government, serving as Mayor of Portland and then winning her Senate seat, where she serves on both the Justice Reform Committee and Judiciary Committee. She is married to a former Canadian Barrister, who left his position to join her in DC. She is mother to two daughters and a son, all grown, and often visits her grandchildren in her hometown of Vancouver.

Carol is a Stanford graduate who is passionate about storytelling. She has directed and taught drama in Brazil After returning, she ventured into community theater and has been seen onstage at Centerpoint in A Man For All Seasons, Arsenic and Old Lace, The Foreigner, The Drowsy Chaperone, Annie, and To Kill A Mockingbird. Carol has enjoyed working in the Black Box at Centerpoint, directing various productions. She has also directed at the Ziegfeld Theatre, Hopebox and Beverly’s Terrace Plaza Playhouse.

What do you hope people will get from listening?
Carol's Answer:
I hope that anyone listening would gather the courage to look at their own lives, and the lives around them with eyes open, and heart willing to understand relationships honestly. I believe that anyone who is in a toxic relationship should be able to access the resources cited in the podcast.
